WHO AM I?

I have been drawing since I was a kid. My school notebooks often held more characters than lessons. Life then led me toward entrepreneurship, building brands, and manufacturing my own collections in China, where I moved from pencil to digital tools.

For nearly twenty years, I have worked with images: Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere Pro, video, editing, a little 3D and architecture. I also worked in nightlife and made music as a songwriter, composer, and performer.

I’ve never been able to stick to just one thing. Above all, I’m self-taught and endlessly curious.

My influences come from everywhere. I traveled extensively throughout Asia, especially Japan, Thailand, and South Korea, and was fortunate enough to live in the United States for a year, experiencing American culture from the inside.

I grew up between two worlds: manga, American comics, animation, video games, music, collectible figures, and retro gaming.

Somewhere between 1980 and 1996 lies much of my creative DNA.

Then artificial intelligence arrived. I understand the legitimate debates it creates, but I do not see AI as a replacement for our own creativity. To me, it is a new tool in a toolbox that has never stopped evolving.

I do not reject drawing, artists, or the years I spent learning. AI did not create my desire to make things: it gave me the means to go much further with a drive that was already there.

Without these tools, LES ZOZOS DU GHETTO probably would never have existed in this form. There is no large studio behind ZOZO, but one person writing, imagining, building, and directing this universe.

AI helps me bring to life a vision that would once have required a team and resources beyond the reach of an independent creator.

But the tool does not decide what ZOZO is.

The characters, stories, neighborhoods, companies, conflicts, humor, art direction, and connections that make up ZOZO CITY come from my mind, my experiences, and my influences.

I’m reserved and have always enjoyed working alone. Here, that became a strength: one vision, one artistic direction, and a consistent story across an entire world.

LES ZOZOS DU GHETTO is a long-term project, meant to welcome new stories, new characters, and new generations of ZOZOS.

And since ZOZO CITY is also a distorted mirror of our own world, its greatest source of inspiration is probably inexhaustible: us.
